Research awards from highly competitive and prestigious  international agencies such as The Howard Hughes Medical Institute (USA) (two times), the Muscular Dystrophy Association (USA) (two times),  National Science Foundation (SA), Fogarty International (USA), Third World Academy of Sciences (Italy), Volkswagen-Stiftung (Germany), International Foundation for Sciences (Sweden) and by the different Programs of the Chilean National Agency for Research and Technology (CONICYT); Fondecyt, Fondef, Fondap and Basal Program for Excellence in Research.
